  • County reports rise in late property taxes - Most notices going to developers, banks. Dakota County is seeing about a 30 percent increase in the number of overdue property tax notices sent this year over those sent in previous years.
  • Public defender cuts predicted to clog court cases, add costs - Dakota County is expecting increased expenses and significant delays in the courts, according to County Attorney James Backstrom.
  • Pritzlaff says he will run again - Farmington City Council Member David Pritzlaff announced June 26 he plans to run for re-election.
  • Exchange building complete after 10 years - After 10 years, renovations on the Exchange Bank Building in Farmington were finally completed June 23.
  • Farmington mayor says he will not seek re-election - In a letter to Thisweek Newspapers dated June 19, Farmington Mayor Kevan Soderberg announced he will not seek re-election to the office so he can take a job at the University of Oklahoma.
  • Feelin’ like royalty - The Miss Farmington ambassadors include Megan Esselman named first princess, Elle Rose named second princess, Alison Peine crowned Miss Farmington 2008 and Cheyenne Clark who was named Miss Congeniality by her fellow candidates

  • K-9 wakes up handler for fire - A police dog woke his owner after lightning struck his house and started a fire at 10:44 a.m. Wednesday, June 11.
