FARMINGTON LIONS FOOTBALL TEAM
Northern Power Football League
Minor League Football Alliance
OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE
The Lions organization regrettably has decided to cease operations. With current trends in the economy, severe financial hardship by the owner, and current economic conditions of the team we were forced to reevaluate our decision to move forward with our season.
The Lions would like to thank all those that were involved during our short season an exciting time. Although we will not be able to complete our season we would like to state the NPFL is comprised of quality owners, teams, players and volunteers.
Thank you for the opportunity to be part of the Minor League / Semi Pro Football experience. The good times and the good friends will be remembered and treasured.

The Farmington Lions are a semi-pro football team that will be calling Farmington, Minnesota their home! Initially the team will lease the Farmington High School Tiger Field for their games until they can get their own stadium built.
The Farmington Lions are a new team in the Northern Power Football League, a part of the 30 leagues and 280 teams in the Minor League Alliance. There are seven teams in the league primarily in Minnesota with one team in Wisconsin. The Northern Terror team had to fold creating a 7-team league. There is one other Twin City team, the South Metro Dragons in Cottage Grove.
The team is ran by Doug Johnson, a former North American Football League player who calls Minnesota home. He hopes the new league will be ran better than the former Great Plains Football league. Their marketing is ran by Matt Falco who lives in nearby Apple Valley. Matt played in a somewhat related sport, rugby.
The Lions played their first game May 25th against the South Metro Dragons at the Cottage Grove Park HS field. The team was 0-0 going into the 4th quarter. The Dragons scored a goal but their extra point was blocked. The Lions came back and were within a yard of a goal but ran out of time, losing the game.
